June

This month we will be working on the food pyramid. We will start with the topic of food and nutrition and we will learn the different types of food: fruits and vegetables, meat, wheat and dairy, as well as sweets.

These foods provide us with fiber, vitamins, and essential minerals for our growth. We will learn how to eat well and balance out the meals we have throughout the day, as well as to realize how important breakfast, lunch, and dinner are while we learn about good manners in the table.

We will be talking about good eating habits and the precautions we have to take with our body so it functions well, healthy and free from viruses!

We will see that we all have a different weight and size, and to stay healthy we have to avoid things that are NOT HEALTHY such as; smoking, too much exposure to the sun, junk food, and not staying active.

We will also understand and learn that the preparation of food is very fun and exciting. We will do a project involving a net/fabric in order to make a delicious Tomato Ragu and pasta. We will prepare the items from scratch and go through the entire process of making it to packing it. In art class, we will make a store, we will create a product, name it and create an image for it. At the end of the month, we will invite the parents to buy our healthy gourmet products!
