The month of May is full of fun and entertaining activities!

We will learn about the human body. Our body is the most fascinating and fantastic machine in existence. We will travel inside our body to look at how we function. We will learn that our body is made up of a head, neck, torso, two arms, and two legs. The body is made to stand upright, walk on two feet and use the arms to carry and lift. We will learn the names and functions of various organs such us our heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, etc…

We will see that each of the organisms in our body has certain tasks assigned to it. The human body systems work closely with each other in order to maintain a healthy balance.

This month, we will learn how to take care of our body. Daily routines such as hand washing, tooth brushing,  and exercising, help children along the road to a healthy lifestyle.

We will finish our study of the human body by reviewing our five senses. The senses are your child‘s first tools used for learning about the world. Our five senses are sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing. We will do different  experiments to stimulate each sense.

Rhyme of the month

Here are my arms

Have children do actions to match words in rhyme.

Here are my eyes.
Here is my nose.
Here are my fingers.
Here are my toes.
Here are my eyes,
Both open wide.
Here is my mouth
With white teeth inside.
Here is my tongue
That helps me speak.
Here is my chin,
And here are my cheeks.
Here are my hands
That help me play.
Here are my feet
For walking today.

Value of the Month

Being humble is how you show others that you don’t think you are better then they are. You are thoughtful of other people’s needs and you want to help them without expecting anything in return.

You accept that everyone makes mistakes and try to learn from your own missteps.

When you succeed at something, and you politely show thanks instead of pride, you are showing your humbleness.
